Following her first visit in 1906, Lydia Longacre traveled from New York each summer to paint in Old Lyme. She boarded at the Griswold House until the death of Miss Florence in 1937. This painting depicts the rear yard of the Griswold House in summer, as viewed from the path running north from the well house.
