Arthur Crisp (1881-1974) was born on April 26, 1881 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He studied at the Art students League of New York. He was a member of the New York City Art Commission; National Academy of Design, Architectural League of New York, American Watercolor Society, Salmagundi Club, Artist Fellowship, Inc., Life Member, Lotos Club, Life Member, National Arts Club, Founder, Allied Artists of America, Founder, Artists for Victory.
Some of the buildings in which Mr. Crisp’s murals appear are: Canadian House of Parliament; Court House, New York; Head Office, Bank of Commerce, Toronto, Canada; Pennsylvania Railroad Station, Newark, NJ; Puerto Rico Government Office, Rockefeller Center, NY; the Dr. Pepper Building, Dallas, Texas; and in New York, Bellevue Hospital; Lotos Club; and Dollar Savings Bank. In addition murals by this artist are in numerous hotels, restaurants, and theaters all over the United States. He is also represented in many private collections.
Crisp was an instructor in Mural Painting at the Beaux Arts Institute of Design; National Academy and the Art Students League. He also taught at Cooper Institute and the College of the City of New York.
