Canadian, (1868–1965) In Lyme: summers 1906, 1907
Thomson was a student at the Art Students League in 1906-07 and was in Old Lyme during those summers with Frank V. DuMond. He also studied with Lathrop, Poore, and Weigand, and at the National Academy of Design. In 1906 he moved to New York after receiving a law degree from the University of Washington. He was a member of both the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts and the New Haven Paint and Clay Club.
He lived in New Haven, Connecticut from 1908 to 1926 and was very active in the New Haven Paint and Clay Club. he was also a member of the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts in Hartford.
Thomson returned to Canada in 1926 and lived in Owen Sound, Ontario. He died at age 97 while on a sketching trip. His brother, Tom Thomson is considered the best known Canadian artist.
