Nelson Holbrook White is a contemporary artist who was born in New London, Connecticut in July 1932. He is the son of artist Nelson Cooke White and the grandson of Henry Cooke White.

After graduating from the Tabor Academy in Massachusetts in 1951 he studied violin for several years. He then decided to devote himself to a career as an artist. In 1955 White went to Florence to study with Italian portraitist, Pietro Annigoni. He also studied traditional painting with Nerina Simi.

He has exhibited in Cremona, Italy and at the Lyman Allyn Museum, the Mattatuck Museum, and the Lyme Art Association. In 1990 an exhibition of his work was presented at the Hammer Galleries in New York City. His work is part of the permanent collections of the Lyman Allyn Museum, the New Britain Museum of American Art, the Wadsworth Atheneum, and the Florence Griswold Museum. It can also be found in many private collections in both the United States and Italy.
