George D. Yater

George Yater studied under William Forsythe at the John Herron Art School in Indiannapolis. Between 1931 and 1934 he studied at the Cape School of Art with Henry Hensche, recevining full scholarships for each of four summers. He studied privately with Edwin Dickinson and Richard Miller.
Between 1943 and 1946 Yater lived in a house on Library Lane in Old Lyme. He worked as a photographer, production manager and draftsman doing war work at the Pratt Read plant in Deep River, Connecticut. In 1955 he became the executive director of the Sarasota Art Association (Florida).
