Volkstedt Pottery
Porcelain Potter
German,
(1760–1890)
A porcelain factory was established by Georg Heinrich Macheleid about 1760 which first produced a softpaste, then a hard-paste porcelain. Originally the factory was situated at Sitzendorf, but was moved to Volkstedt in 1762 where it flourished. Christian Nonne took it over in 1767, but was dismissed in 1800 when the business was acquired by Wilhelm Heinrich Greiner and Carl Holzapfel who continued it until 1817 or later.
The firm became Alteste Volkstedter Porzellan-Fabrik after 1890.
