Clifford Prevost Grayson (1857-1951) was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 14, 1857. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts under Gerome & Bonnat and at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.

He exhibited at the Paris Salon, 1881-1911. His work is represented in the permanent collections of the Corcoran Gallery and the Art Institute of Chicago.

He was a member of the Century Club, the Salmagundi Club, the Art Club of Philadelphia, and the Lyme Art Association.

He was awarded a $2000 prize from the American Art Galleries in 1886 and the Temple Gold Medal from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1887.

Grayson died in Old Lyme, Connecticut on November 11, 1951.
