Burr Churchill Miller, Jr. (1904-1958) was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He studied at Yale University (Ph.D.) and Yale University School of Fine Arts with Robert Eberhard, and at the Academie Julian, Paris with Louis Henri Bouchard and Jose de Creeft.
He was a member of the National Sculpture Society, the Federation of Modern Painters and Sculptors, Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, Hartford, the Lyme Art Association, and the Architectural League of New York.
He exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, 1914, 1931, 1946, 1949, the National Academy of Design, 1931-39, the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, 1933-34, 1936-37, Salon des Artistes, Paris, 1938, the Society of Independent Artists, 1938-42, the Golden Gate Exposition, San Francisco, 1939 the World’s Fair, New York, 1939, Anderson Gallery, 1939 (solo), and the Whitney Museum of American Art, 1940.
His work can be found at the Bishop Museum, Honolulu, Hawaii.
