Margaret Hardon Wright was born in Newton, Mass the only girl in a family of five children. Her father wa a school superintendent and her mother had been a teacher. After Newton Public Schools, she attended Wellesley College, graduating in 1892. While there she became interested in art and took such course as were offered then. For two years after college she attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology for course relating to architecture.

She went to Paris for several years living with other young women who were there studying art or music. She attended the attelier where she studied drawing. During this period she became interested in printmaking and began collecting prints. She went on sketching trips all over France.

She married James Hayden Wright, a Harvard graduate and student of architecture, in 1901. They resided in Boston where her husband practiced architecture and she made her etchings at home. Her subjects were architectural.

Over the years Margaret, James and their son James travelled to Europe. She constantly sketched while on trips and several of her etchings were exhibited, although detailed records haven't been found.

For many years she gave lectures on printmaking using her work and those that she collected as examples. She had a rotating display at the Newton Library. In 1931 her health declined and interfered with her artistic pursuits.
