Farm Landscape is an outstanding examle of Crane's early style and of a genre that he pursued during the 1880s and 1890s. Silhouetted against a reflective sky are a small grouping of trees along which a small stream leads diagonally across a scrubby pasture. The trees and pasture are depicted in beautifully soft values of green, russet and taupe.
