A brass oil lamp which burns two rushes. A vase-shaped support rises from a flat, round base. the oil was held in a reservoir from which two rush spouts protrude to one side. Opposite the spout is a handle joining the reservoir and the vertical post. The handle has been resoldered and the reservoir has been repaired. Whale oil lamps often had double wicks like those here.
