An oval hat box made of wallpaper over cardboard. The bottom (b) has a dark brown background with pink, white, and red flowers in geometric design. The top (a) does not match. It has a blue border and red nosegays on black and white. According to the donor, the hat box belonged to Elizabeth Griswold who married Charles Chandler Griswold. The label on the top of the box reads, "R. Ballerstein & Co. Dealers and Jobbers in Millinery. 360 Main Street, Hartford." Written in pencil "Mrs. D. Morley, Lyme."
