Sketch for a mural that was painted for the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition. It is an allegorical portrayal of the "pioneer spirit in America, the march of civilization from the Atlantic to the Pacific." This mural shows an angel with a trumpet sending people on their way.
The original contract for these murals indicates that the final working studies had to be submitted to the director of color by July 1, 1913. This study may therefore be dated to 1913.
