This wooden sewing box is made of maple, brass, mother-of-pearl inlay, and black lacquer. There is an inlay medallion on the center top and two front panels. The edges of the box top and base have ridges of small scalloping. The top lifts and the two front panels swing open to reveal two small drawers for needles and 6 spools for thread. The box was probably made in Europe.
