Raised in New York as well as Old Lyme, Katharine Ludington became a talented potrait painter and exhibited with the early Old Lyme artists. She abandoned painting in the nineteen-teens and devoted herself to the suffrage movement. She was one of the founders of the National League of Women Voters.
