A uniformly modest composition, what the French refer to as a "passage in time." A line of trees stands out against a thinly painted blue sky, through which patches of raw canvas appear. Despite a predominant use of broken brushwork and rich colors to describe the hillside, the painting conveys a mood of quiet wistfulness that is often associated with late Autumn.
