A view of the marshland in Old Lyme, known as Smith's Neck, on a gray day. Employing broad strokes of creamy paint, Smith conveys the dramatic atmospheric effects of the coastal region on a grey day. Smith's Neck is a peninsula of land where the Black Hall and Duck rivers meet at Long Island.
