A sketch for a mural that was painted for the Panama Pacific Exposition. It is part of an allegorical portrayal of the pioneering of the American west. This mural shows the joyful entry into the West by a variety of people into a land of plenty - represented by an orange tree overflowing with fruit.

The original contract for these murals indicates that the final working studies had to be submitted to the director of color by July 1, 1913. This study may therefore be dated to 1913.
