Wood canoe once owned by Woodrow Wison. Canoe was transported and used in Old Lyme as referenced in a 1908 letter in which Ellen Axson Wilson mentions to one of her daughters that the family would bring the canoe with them on their summer visit to the Florence Griswold House.
Canoe has brass plate with serial number #4710--indicating it's date of manufacture, 1907. Wooden nameplate with the name "Woodrow Wilson" accompanied the canoe. This canoe did not arrive with a pair of oars.
