The gauge is a wooden rod with a square wooden collar. the rod rod has a metal point on one side. the wooden collar can slide up and down the rod and can be held in one position by a brass thumb screw. Both the collar and rod have brass insets. The gauge was used to mark pieces of wood for bevel cuts along the corners.
