Best known today for his impressionistic depictions of New York City in winter, this early work demonstrates Wiggins interest in landscape. This work also suggests the influence of his father, Carleton Wiggins, an early member of the Lyme Art Colony known for his Barbizon-inspired renditions of cattle and sheep.
