Mrs. Guy Richards (nee Elizabeth Harris) 1727-1793, married Captain Guy Richards of New London, CT in 1746. She is the sister-in-law of Thomas Shaw of New London. In her hands she holds the "Family Expositor: or a Paraphrase and version of the New Testament," a popular guide for family worship by the English Calvinist, Philip Doddridge. The view out her window shows the wharf her husband owned for his dry goods business. The Richards' house looked out on Winthrop Cove.
