A Staffordshire plate celebrating the independence of America depicting Washington, blind justice and the goddess of Liberty ringed in a banner with the names of 15 states in a blue transfer print. The plate is earthenware with a lead
glaze and was made at the pottery of Ralph & James Clews in Cobridge, Staffordshire.
