A view of a woman standing in front of a house. She is wearing a long, pink dress and stands in front of a fence at the left. The whole painting seems to be veield in green. Smith produced a number of nocturnes - usually featuring a lone figure in front of a barn or house - which are reconized as a significant aspect of his work. Using a carefully controlled palette the artist succeeds in recording a sense of veiled luminosity in "Spring Nocturne".
