Wood, folding/portable palette, edges are straight ans square except for the curved portion of the grip and thumb hole. The palette is made of two separate pieces of wood which are pieced together by two small hinges which allow it to fold in half. On the left side are small groupings of various colors of dried paint, 10 colors total around the edge. A small triangular raised wood stopper is attached to the lower right corner on the inside so that when folded the two sides of the palette do not touch and stick together when paint is on the surface. A small hook and nail is placed at the center of the seam so that when the palette is open and in use one can latch the two sides to stabilize the suface. The exterior of the palette is dark brown with a moderate amout of paint markings (A view of the exterior can be found in the Surrogate List). Palette fits into the lid of a portable wood supplies box.
