Tosca Olinsky, the daughter of Lyme Art Colony portraitist Ivan Olinsky, pushes the conventions of floral still-lifes, a genre long associated with women. Rather than simply replicate manicured hothouse blossoms in detail, she often depicts wildflowers that appear slightly wilted, finding beauty in the imperfect. Olinsky helped to organized the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts and was one of its first instructors.
