A seascape in blue and green. In the foreground, tied to a brown post, are two dories and one skiff. In the hazy background at the top can be seen sailing vessels and pilings. The town of Gloucester on the north shore of Cape Ann, Massachusetts was, like Old Lyme, the setting of a thriving art colony in the early years of this century. Artisits were especially attracted to Gloucester's picturesque harbor scenes of coves, wharves and moored boats.
