A four post Empire bed possibly of Massachusetts origin which has turned finials, boldly carved acanthus leaf, wheat and plume top, middle and lower sections. The middle sections have spiral turned acanthus leaf decorations above deeply carved pineapple motifs. The lower section of the posts are plain and square with turned legs which taper into brass cupped feet. A series of baluster turnings on the back posts follow the lines of the front posts without carvings. The scroll-shaped headboard os 19 1/2 inches high. The side rails and top of one of the posts are not original and all four rails were restored with knobs for rope supports in 1977 by the donor.

This is reportedly the bed that Miss Florence was born in in 1850.
