Painting of the ship "Ocean Queen" which Capt. Robert H. Griswold sailed to London. He was on this ship on Christmas day in 1850 when Miss Florence was born. Robert H. Griswold captained the Ocean Queen for 5 years and then retired from the sea. The ship then passed on to another captain and in 1856 it was lost at sea in transit from London to New York with all passengers, cargo, and crew.

The Ocean Queen was built at New York by Jacob A. Westervelt & William Mackey, and was launched in 1850. She sailed in Griswold's Black X Line of sailing packets between New York and London, her westbound passages averaging 33 days, her shortest passage being 23 days, her longest 52 days. In February 1856, with W. B. Smith as master, she sailed from London for New York with 90 passengers and a crew of 33, and went missing.
