Although best known as screenprinters, Ives-Sillman helped the artist produce this offset lithograph for publication in a small edition by Abrams Original Editions. De Kooning’s energetic line shares traits with the slashing strokes he used for his figures painted in oil. His foray into printmaking was made via lithography, which preserved his gesture.
