Rook sees the rushing water and early morning light touching the landscape with the clarity and commanding power that reveals his best work. This painting is inscribed by the artist to Miss Florence Griswold, proprietor of the boarding house on Lyme Street which had become the center of the Art Colony at Old Lyme.
