A loosely painted Italian landscape sketch showing tall, dark evergreens in the left foreground, a single evergreen in the center right, and a hill covered with pink buildings in the background. In the foreground a road descends, disappearing in a tunnel. Red-roofed buildings cluster on steep hills at left. In the valley below buildings nestle. There are hills in a blue haze in the distance. This quick study sketch may have been one of severalmade for the finished painting "Old Mill, Pelago, Tuscany."
