Accession Number: 1992.9
A gilded pier mirror once owned and used by Florence Griswold. Pier mirrors reflected the room rich in embellishments of the day. It originally hung between the two front windows in Miss Florence's parlor. It was sold at the 1938 auction after her death and purchased by a local resident.

This one piece panel of glass is flat arched at the top, and surrounded by gilded molding overlaid with foliated scrolls topped by a large cartouche. Large overlaid s-shaped foliated scrolls at the base match upper details. The foliated scrolls reflect the late Rococco Revival era at mid-19th century, although the cartouche suggests the onset of the Renaissance Revival style.
