A sketch and etching on the same paper. Both images show the same landscape scene: two people on the left bank of a river, trees and cows on the right, and a small cottage in the background. Robert Minor studied briefly in New York City before going to Europe. He studied with Boulanger in Paris and is considered an important exponent of the American Barbizon School. Minor is best known as a member of the art colony in Old Lyme, Connecticut where he spent many summers.
