Colorful view of the Lyme Art Association's opening reception. There is a table under some trees with figures of women, a man and a child in front. Elegant teas were held on the front lawn of the gallery each summer to mark the opening of the annual member's exhibition. This tradition began in 1902 with the first annual exhibition held at the Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library in Old Lyme.
