A Chippendale, pieced, ladder-back side chair, probably made in Massachusetts. The seats are serpentine-shaped and upholstered with old burgundy cloth which is not original to the chair. The stiles are flat and the backposts are round. The square rear legs are chamfered on the inside corner. The legs are molded with a corner bead.
